Hi, my entries on this wiki are concerning CC Licensed Internet Radio Station, "N4iB" now listed in the Audio directory and at, http://wiki.creativecommons.org/FM108.US

The station had to be re-branded as the original name adopted turned out to be HAM radio call sign letters.

Shalom,
Welcome to the Content Directories

The following is a list of organizations and projects powered with Creative Commons licenses. Since Creative Commons does not maintain a database of content and does not store content, we would like CC-community members to help build a directory of projects to help spread the word about CC--hence the CC Content Directories wiki! Please help us fill it out!

What is an appropriate entry for Content Directories?

Many of the listings in the Content Directories are organizations that provide services using Creative Commons licenses. For example, Flickr.com is a photo-sharing website that allows users to license their photos under Creative Commons licenses. Flickr hosts millions of CC-licensed photos on its site.

Not certain that something should be added to this list? Add it to Talk:Content Directories. For short lists of notable works, see books and films. For other notable uses, see the case studies project.

How to add an entry to Content Directories

To get started, simply add the name of the organization of project in the box below. Then, you'll be able to use an easy form to enter details to add to the Content Directories listings. For some screenshots about how to do this, go here.
If you haven't done so already, you'll need to sign up for an account on this wiki. Users must be logged-in to post to the wiki.
In short: FM108.US's mission, is to showcase unsigned recording artist's works in a totally CC Professional Internet Broadcast environment, in order to promote both these artists, and the continued freedom of all artforms on the World-Wide-Web through Creative Commons Licencing.

FM108.US's entire music playlist is downloaded solely from Jamendo's "Top 100," which is credited in the stations CC Licence, as well as linking the "Jamendo Artists" pages in the licence section, "further permissions." Steve has blocked any downloads or copy target capabilities on the station's site since his station is a third party streaming live whole unaltered works.

Steve and his friends moved the station's equipment into the new studio space in Little Rock, Arkansas from May 16, through May 18, 2009. Under the call sign "N4ib" the station's on-air target date was to be May 20, 2009. Then a change of events occured concerning the name of the station's domain name being the same as the station's call sign, which unknown to Steve, just happened to be the call sign of a HAM Radio Operator's Station. To resolve the conflict, it just was easier for Steve to re-brand the station to a non-call-sign more generic name. Hense the change to, "FM108.US."

The station's new official on-air date is now the 4th of July. The FM108.US web site will not active and viewable until the afternoon of July 3rd. Feel free to contact Steve: Temporary email is "S.Joel.Speirs@gmail.com," until the station is on the air at which time the email will change to: "Steve@FM108.US."

The station's telephone remained the same after the move except the prefix changed from "372" to "224," so the number is now: 1-501-224-6442. A lot of work went into keeping the last four digits of the phone number "6442" so that after the move across town the phone number would still spell out as "N4iB." Steve has already checked, and there is no way to make FM108 work out in a similar fashion with another phone number. FYI: The station is in time zone +GMT6, or United States Central Time.

Help us make a list of Internet Radio stations that are Creative Commons friendly. By "Creative Commons friendly" we mean that some portion of the music played is CC licensed and that fact is mentioned on their website. Just because your local Clear Channel affiliate played a song from NIN's new CC licensed album doesn't make them CC friendly, necessarily.
This list could then be supplied to media players to be included by default as Free and Open Content.
Don't let this candid disclosure make you think FM108.US is just another station run by a DJ-Want-To-Be. Steve has thirty years experience as a United States major market radio air personality, with experience in program direction, and engineering as well. The station has both professional jingles, & voice-over promo packages, and in place of commerical advertizing, will be airing public service announcments. Some of these PSA's will be promoting CC Licensed Artists, as well as Creative Commons Licencing and Internet Sharing Freedom.

To Summerize: FM108.US's mission, is to showcase unsigned recording artist's works in a totally CC Professional Internet Broadcast environment in order to promote both these artists, and the continued freedom of all artforms on the World-Wide-Web through Creative Commons Licencing.

FM108.US's entire music playlist is downloaded solely from Jamendo's "Top 100," which is credited in the stations CC Licence, as well as linking the "Jamendo Artists" pages in the licence section, "further permissions." Steve has completed the station's new studio in Little Rock, Arkansas, United States.

Steve and his friends moved the station's equipment into the new studio space on May 16, through May 18, 2009. Under the call sign "N4ib" the station's on-air target date was May 20, 2009. Then a change of events occured concerning the name of the station's domain name being the same as the station's call sign, which unknown to Steve, just happened to be the call sign of a HAM Radio Operator's Station. To resolve the conflict, it just was easier to re-brand the station to a non-call-sign more generic name.

This info will be updated again AFTERBold text the station is safely on the air... Just in case something else goes wrong!
Steve Speirshttps://wiki-dev.creativecommons.org/index.php?title=FM108.US&diff=22644FM108.US2009-04-18T18:54:59Z
Steve Speirs:
